About:
I am writing this as a photographer and a web designer who is thankful every day of my life that I’m making a paycheck with my camera and my most favorite interests. In six years I’ve worked with over 80 Clients all over the Southeast including Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Averitt Trucking and many many happy business owners and married couples. I’ve shot cars, planes, food, portraits, hotels, churches, jewelry and many other things . The best way to meet a new friend is in person and I believe thats also the best way to meet a new client. However, if you peruse my work and like what you see, don’t be afraid to go ahead and call for more information, we’ll have plenty of time to meet and get to know each other beforehand.
My Back Story . . . .
My photography career began in 1995. I started with an old Film 35mm with free rein and a head-full of ideas on how to capture what defined my environment. My environment at the time was, of course, Middle School. And my free rein extended as far as the yearbook/newspaper advisor would let me go which generally remained related to whatever particular articles my preteen-peers were writing for the next issue of our 100 circulation paper. Fast forward to 2000, when I graduated high school to begin my first year at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and watch me immediately realize that I was skilled in calculus and science, but it certainly wasn’t what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. I wanted (and still want) to create, speak to people, convey stories and emotion, and spend my days doing something I ENJOY.
I watched my father closely as a child, and remain grateful for the 70 hour weeks he put in through my life while he was practicing medicine to the best of his or anyone else’s abilities. My family always had everything we needed and there were never moments I remember having to do without. As I reflect on my life growing up, I realize my dad worked day in and day out but didn’t have time for many hobbies and wasn’t at home as often as I’m sure he wishes he had been. It was observation that invoked a desire to make sure I practiced something that I would do even if I weren’t getting paid for it.
In 2004, I bought a “REAL” Digital SLR and started taking pictures of everything that inspired me. I didn’t take formal photography classes other than a mandatory black and white film course which was required for my DIGITAL MEDIA degree, but I did have some artistic role-models that kept me inspired and motivated. (chromasia, dg28, strobist) “Learn by doing” has always seemed to provide the most real education for me, so I did just that – I started doing. By 2005 I had snapped 15,000 images with that old camera and through observation, critique, and practice I learned leaps and bounds about exposure, light, ISO, aperture, shutter-speed, focal length, depth of field, and other photography jargon . . .
Today I’m doing my best to grow as an artist and conceive fantastic images daily. I’m absolutely thrilled with what I’m doing and try my best to spend each waking moment enjoying life. I thrive on feedback from clients, friends and family - If I’m not on the phone, behind a camera, or traveling all over the Southeast, I might be wrenching on a car, enjoying some food/wine, or practicing my target shooting . . . .
