Snapm orders photographers in the directory based on their participation on the site. The exact formula will remain secret (and will change frequently), but doing things like uploading photos to your portfolio, collecting reviews, and filling out your profile completely all help your ranking.
The ordering gets updated a few times throughout the day, so don't get worried if you don't see yourself jump up immediately after making changes to your account.
